Student celebrations across the borough

It's definitely time to celebrate, as early indications are pointing towards the Class of 2010 achieving the largest year-on-year improvement in GCSE results since new standards were introduced five years ago. We'll be bringing you regular updates throughout the day as they come in.

School admissions - applying online

1 Sept: As from 1 September 2010 applications to a Waltham Forest Primary or Secondary School for September 2011 can be made online at www.eadmissions.org.uk

Lea Bridge Library reopens

24 Aug: Residents are being invited to celebrate the re-opening of Lea Bridge Library on Saturday 4 September.

Free swims end on 5 September

24 Aug: Free swims are no longer funded by the government and the Council is unable to continue offering them. While we have found the money to pay for the swims through the summer, they will end on Sunday 5 September.

Annual Canvass of voters

13 Aug: Every year the Council checks that its list of registered voters living in the borough is as accurate as possible.

A voter registration form are being delivered to all homes from Friday 13 August. Please fill them in as soon as possible.

WFD Leytonstone opening at 9.30am on Friday 3 September
